This I Believe
This I believe that everyone should have a passion. When I was 11 yrs. Old I was running in P.E and I tripped while running in a sewer and broke my foot. The next day I remember sitting in the waiting room when the nurse came in and said
“Ready for the cast?”
I really wanted to say no but I knew I could not
“Yes…”
After everything was done the doctor came back in just to make sure everything was right and she said
“No walking no playing any sports!”
As I looked up to her it looked like she was starting to become a blur to me as the tears came rolling down the side of my cheek. I knew that I was out of tennis for two months. It was too sad to think about it every time it came to my head more my eyes would blur up. My moms looked at me with a smile and said don’t worry after this everything will be alright but I knew that for that two month it was not going to be alright.
That night it was a Wednesday night and at Cherokee Town & country club it was pasta night! As I was walking in to those big doors I look back and see the courts where it all began I look up and pray that I will be out there soon! When I walked by the front desk I saw one of the workers who was a good friend of mine.
“ Allie I hear.”
And he looks down everyone had been laughing and telling me to come up with a better story then falling in a ditch and I broke my foot, and I knew the people who were going to do it the most were my friends at Cherokee. As I walked in I saw some people that were on my tennis team and they ran up to me asking what happened but looking at then reminded me of looking at those courts so I looked at them and told them the story I had to get this whole tennis thing out of my head I needed to , or everything was going to get a lot worse.
The next day I had came to school with no signatures on my cast and when I left school I had a little more than 150
“I felt loved!”
I told my mom.
“Allie your not going to be happy about this” my mom told me
“What!”
“We have to go pick up your brother from UTA (a tennis program) when I heard those words come out of her mouth I knew I could not bear looking a those courts when it is misty and drizzling I always go out on the courts and just sit and look around and think of everything that is going on. When I am on the tennis court I feel something special like a relationship that you have with a pet. When we drove up my mom gets a phone call when I look at the caller I thought to myself could this day get any worse. It was my tennis coach calling my mom gave me the phone I looked at her with a confused look
“Its for you!” she told me.
“Hello?”
“Hey Allie I am calling to ask I you wanted to come watch your team play?”
As a team player I knew I could not say no but could I bear sitting next to the courts
As that say slowly arrived I drove up and saw my teammates as I crutched down there the most magical thing happened my team started to clap. I was trying to see what they were clapping for but then I saw all of their eyes on me. I was trying so hard to hold in the tears as a smile so big came on to my face. As my coach Frank comes over to help me over to the seating area by the court. As I sit and watch my team play I realize something. That my passion in life is tennis and I know I want to do it for the rest of my life. It also made me realize to always do your best and never give up on your dreams. Frank saw something struck me and chuckled a little and smiled and told me
“it is good to have you back!”
This I believe that everyone should have a passion.
