Ode to Lily

When first I saw

Your soft furry whiteness,

I fell in love

At first sight.

I picked you up,

And then I knew,

Lily, I really love you.

Your black eyes,

Reflect your innocence

And your love for

Most everybody, including me.

Oh, Lily, your little black nose,

Can smell me out

Wherever I go.

I see you in my mind’s eye,

Your beautiful soft fur of whiteness, your little pink bow.

When I am sad you cheer me up.

Just by letting me pick you up.

When I am not with you,

I try to think you are not far away.

That I will be with you,

And see you soon.

Oh, Lily,

There are no words to express

How much you mean to me except,

I love you.
