Sumerian war tools
My essential question was, how do Sumerians make there war tools. I choose this project because my dad was in the army and I thought it would be cool to learn about weapons. I also am interested in war tools so I thought it would be a good start to learning about them. I started with Phoenician war tools but I could not find anything. Then I switched over to Sumer war tools.
There are lots of war tools but I’m going to name five of them. These are the five war tools that i’m going to talk about today. The spear, Scimitar blade, Light Throwing Spear, Short Handled Spear and Copper Mace. I’ll first talk about the spear. The spear is very heavy. It was used so the king could show his solders where to go. But at the same time he had to control a chariot. The next one i’m going to talk about is the Scimitar blade. The Scimitar blade has thin copper attached to a crooked wooden handle held by little copper bolts and a gold band. One was found in Queen Shubad’s grave. Another one looked exactly similar found in Kish was carried by the king. The next one i’m going to talk about is light throwing spears. The spears were carried in the front of the chariot. There were two types of spears and there were two types of spears and two sets of two. One has a pronged butt, Its used for throwing. The other one has a plain butt. There used for fighting. The next two i’m going to talk about is short handled spear and copper mace. The short handled spear is used by a phalanx. Its used for one on one combat. The copper mace is only found in one grave. It’s made of a cylinder with sharp knobs.
My project went well in my opinion. I had to switch subjects in the middle but that wasn’t a problem. I think that was a cool subject to study because I got to learn about things I never knew about before. I also learned that books are useful sometimes more than websites. I had soo much fun learning about Sumerian war tools. I hope to learn more.
