I think that A Single Shard is a lot like Homeless Bird. They are alike because Tree-ear has constant mind battles and Koly from Homeless Bird has a lot of mind battles too. Another connection is that in each book there is someone that is not so fond of the main character and the person that does not like the main character is usually grumpy. The grumpy person from a Single Shard is Min and the person from Homeless Bird is Koly’s mother in law. An example from a Single Shard is when Min has a tantrum and gets mad at Tree-ear. An example from Homeless Bird is when all that the greedy mother in law wants to do is kick Koly out of her house and her life. These are two very similar books.

I believe that you should never tell a lie. When I was about four of five years old my parents were having some of our family friends all the way from Atlanta Georgia. At the time my family was living in Dallas, Texas so it was a treat to have a Georgian come and stay with us. They had a son my age so we got to play the whole day together, but by the time it was time to go to bed his mom was offering us some ice cold Gatorade. We were so worn out that I just suddenly said that I would have some. Then she told me that I needed to ask my mom if I could have some, because Gatorade has a lot of sugar in it and she knew how hyper I get once I get my hands on some sugar. I went upstairs to ask my mom for some Gatorade and she said no. I really wanted some Gatorade and I knew that I had been a naughty child from the beginning so I decided that I would tell a lie. I snuck down stairs and told her that I could have some Gatorade. She said ok and she poured me a glass of cold Gatorade. I started to drink it up like no tomorrow but then I noticed that my mom was coming down the stairs to the kitchen where she would find me drinking my Gatorade that she told me that I could not have. I had to think up a plan, but fast. I decided that I would take my Gatorade into the living room and drink it there. I dashed to the living room and drank up all of my Gatorade. I hid the cup very well so that my mom would never find out that I did this, but who knew that she and her friend were so close because my mom and her friend started talking about the whole Gatorade deal. My legs started taking me all the way up and around the corner to my room. I slammed the door and locked it just to hear Catherine Lynn come down here now. I got the most punished that I had ever been in my life, but I knew that I did a cruel thing ,not that I had not done anything bad before but I know that , that was a very bad thing to do. Now I know that you should never tell a lie no matter how young or how old you are. This I believe.
I think that a Single Shard has two main themes. The first one is friendship. Tree-ear shows friendship when he gave Crane-man the warm coat to wear. he also showed friendship when Tree-ear shares food with Crane-man. Another main theme is determination. There is determination when Min is not being very kind to tree-ear but Tree-ear is determined to be Min’s friend. One more sighn of determination is when Tree-ear is determined to be able to make a bowl of his own.
MACS are good because they do not take a lot of time to load, but when they are loading they have the colorful wheel of death. I am also more familiar with macs rather than PCs. It is going to affect my my learning because they are quick and aficent. something new that I am going to try is that I am going to learn how to make a movie. I feel lucky that I am going to get a mac because most people do not have one.
I thought that this picture was cool because there is a red ball stuck in between two buildings.Sometimes it makes me think what if the ball breaks or how do they squeeze it in all of those places. This makes me feel small compared to this giant red ball. I bet that I could have a hundred questions about this single red ball. Since 2001 New York City based installation artist Kurt has taken RedBall on the road from Abu Dhabi and Taiwan to Chicago and now Perth.
The artist Kurt Perschke takes this red ball to places and tries to see if it fits in some small places. People come up to him and ask him if he could try and fit it places that he hasn’t fitted it in yet.

I do not think that Barak Obama should get reelected because he has already been president for four years and not many good things have come out of it. Sometimes I think about what it would be like if Hillary Clinton or John Mccain had been elected as president. I do not think that Obama should get elected again because he has already been president and someone else should get a turn. He should not get elected because our gas prices have been higher, he has messed up our healthcare system, and many people do not have jobs. Barak Obama should definitely not get elected again.
Some people may argue because they think that Obama was a good president. People may still want Obama because his wife is working on making a lot of things healthier. I think that the big part of him getting elected is not because of him but because of his wife’s idea of putting more healthy foods in school lunches. I also think that he gets a lot of votes because he is the first African American president. I still argue that Obama should not be elected.
Today in values we made parcoes. We split into twelve groups, three in each class with about six people in each group. We voted on who would be the president and C.E.O. of our parco company.
A parco has some specifics like the blue stripe has to be an inch wide, the red square is an inch and paper clipped on in the top right corner and the white rectangle has to be three inches by five inches.
My groups’ strategy was for each person to be doing something different. I was really surprise how well Irene could color in the blue area, and how fast Kate could paperclip the red square on.
Our parcoes went well until we got lazy and did not measure right. We should have double checked our measurements before turning them in.
We ended up turning in one completed parco that was correct. This was a fun activity but we could have done better.
