I believe in Family First

Uncategorized No Comments »

I believe that you should put your family first no matter how important other things might seem in your life. I have not always put my family first, but if I could go back in time and change what happened, I would. Nothing is more important than your family because not everyone has one.

I did not always think about how family should come first. For example a couple of years ago it was Mother’s Day and I was excited to play in a hockey game that would determine the champions of the league for that year.  When my mom told me “We are going to your grandma’s house” I was happy but was worried that I might not make my game in time. Our time at my grandmother’s house went on and on.

I begged my father to take to the game and he agreed reluctantly. We ended up winning, and I was happy, but the look on my father’s face during the car ride home told me I had made the wrong choice that day.

On the way home my dad said “you better apologize to your mother”, I agreed with my dad. My dad also said that “maybe next Sunday you could do something nice for your mother”, I didn’t say a word. I still knew that he was upset with me and that my mom wouldn’t say a word when I got home.

When I got home I showed my mom the trophy she said, “Congratulations”. My dad told me that I ruined one of the two days a year that the day is about your mom. Later that evening I gave her a sincere apology, and knew that in the following years I would keep Mother’s Day to my mother. Always remember family first, no matter what is in on your schedule you can always cancel a game or reschedule a performance, but you can never cancel family time.

Photo Journalism

This is a picture of a basketball player Jeremy Lin taking basketball to new heights. I chose this picture to write about because it reminded me of how you can be the best even if nobody believes in you. This picture showed me and the world you always have a chance to live your dream and be good at it. This also shows the world that Asians and Americans are equally skilled. I enjoy photojournalism because it always gives you a great emotion.

WWE Wrestling

Uncategorized 1 Comment »

Professional Wrestling is my favorite thing to watch/experience after school or when I have a chance to. While most normal people might think I am crazy, I can assure you I am not. While the story lines are a little unrealistic, they are still entertaining. With Love, betrayal, and fighting, this keeps the fans guessing about what will happen next. It’s fake and unrealistic but, at the same time it is entertaining to me and millions of other people.

World Wrestling Entertainment (W.W.E.) touches millions of people around the world with their two programs Raw and Smack down as well as their Pay-Per-View specials like WrestleMania or Extreme Rules. There are athletic, skillful, aerobatic wrestling moves that keep you at the edge of your seat. WWE travels all around the world so everybody has a chance see it live, I would encourage everyone to attend at least once. It has all the action of a football game, and all the comedy and drama of a play.

There are some worries about the WWE though. One trouble about the WWE is that it is bad to watch with its injuries and bad language. This is not always appropriate for all ages. People get hurt year-round in the WWE from submission moves and disastrous wrestling moves like the “cross arm breaker” or the “619” people just always seem to be getting hurt. Another fear about the WWE is that it sometimes uses bad language. Another fear is that you have to pay to watch the best events and the matches you have been waiting to see for a very long time. For, example you would have to pay 65$ to watch this year’s WrestleMania and the main event The Rock vs. John Cena. Also, it is always on late so I have to record it and watch it in my free time. Another fear about the WWE is that it is fake so none of this really happens it is just acting

Even though there are lots of worries about the WWE, I still enjoy it. I like how the WWE has a website so if you miss the action on TV you can still watch your favorite wrestlers perform on the computer. I enjoy how there are so many superstars who put on crazy high flying attacks. I appreciate how they put everything on the line to become the champ. I love the drama that goes around the WWE universe with the alliances, the rivals and the heart breaking decisions that will effect there career forever. That’s why I enjoy watching professional wrestling in my free time.

What Teachers Do Outside of School

Uncategorized No Comments »

At Trinity School, in Atlanta Georgia , students have been wondering what their teacher does after school. Severeal Trinity teachers were interviewed to see what kind of lives they have after school , on the weekend, and Throughout the year.

Trinity Teachers don’t just teach, they enjoy an active life outside of school. They appreciate participating in a lot of activities just like kids.  Ms. Johnston, a fifth grade teacher, says “I like to walk around my neighborhood with my dogs and I love to read the Hunger Games as much as I can. Also I enjoy to sit down and watch T.V. on my DVR.”

Some teachers prefer to lay low, by  resting and taking it easy.  Mrs. Pam, a 3’s teacher, at Trinity School,  “I like to  exercise by walking my dog every day around the neighborhood and going to the gym. I also prefer to cook dinner for my husband, she explains their favorite meal is chicken. I also adore reading for fun.”

Many teachers are  busy after school. For example, they are always doing something in their free time. Ms. Smith the world languages teacher. Ms. Smith “I walk my dog around the park in my neighborhood. I cook dinner every night if I’m  not out with my friends .One of my hobbes is to run I run around the Bobby Jones golf course with my friends. Every Monday I have Bible study after school with Ms. Walker.  I like to babysit kids early in the summer before I go on vication. In the summer I enjoy going to Africa with some of my co-teachers at Trinity School. Throughout the year I’m outside in the pool swimming. My favorite thing  to do after school is to read. I am in really into books about Africa.

Many teachers do the same activities and share the same hobbies after school. For example, most teacher loves to exercize, hit the gym, take walks with friends around their community. Teachers also love to spend time with their friends and family. Our P.E coach, Justin Cahill Explains “I get home as soon as possible to play with my three kids. I play kickball and other sports outside with my two sons. I  also loves to play barbies with my daughter.” Another thing teachers have in common is that they love to read. Teachers love to read The Hunger Games and other exciting books.

Teachers love to do other things and not teach all the time. Teachers and studentsare very similar. They both like to exercise, kids like to play sports and run outside. Teachers like to walk with their friends and walk their dogs. Teachers and students also enjoy spending time with their family and friends either on the weekends or after school. They both love to read similar books like The Hunger Games or Harry Potter. Either way Teachers and students are not as different as you might have thought they were.

Homeless Bird

Homeless bird is a book written by Gloria Whelan. This book is a national book award winner. I have enjoyed reading about this book. This book is sad and scary sometimes but it is also very exciting and will make you keep on reading it. I would recommend this book for ages 9 and up. Also for people who like exciting, sad but, great books.

Koly adapts to her surroundings by keeping hopes high and making friends. An example is at the Mehta’s she made friends with Chandra which helped her a lot and she did not care about her Sass scolding her. She always had high hopes like when Sass ditched her she had high hopes that she would return. Also Tanu is her friend at the widows home “where here you are not a widow but a young woman with a life ahead of you”. Also she adapted to the woman’s shelter. She got used to her room and the food there and she got a job while she was there. Her job is to embroider saris and quilts for Mr. Das. Koly adapted to her surroundings there because she got use to making tree times more and getting use to the girls who she works with.

I think there are two themes in this book. One is one door closes and another one opens. This is a theme because every time something goes wrong something good will happen. For example when Hari died she made friends with Chandra and learned how to read. Also when Chandra got married and was moving Sass and Koly were moving to Delhi. Another one is when Sass ditched Koly and left her in the busy town. Koly found a way out and is now living in the widow’s shelter. This has giving her so much hope and happiness in her life. Those are some examples why if one door closes another one opens. The second theme is determination. For the whole book Koly is determined to fight through sadness and keep a good life with lots of hope. To start the book Koly is determined to get married which she does. Later in the book she is determined to help Hari in every way she can so he can stay alive. By telling him stories, and helping his cough. Koly is also determined to read which she learned to and now is teaching other people how to read. She is also determined to get a job and get promoted which she did. So Koly is determined to do about anything possible which includes being happy, and having a great life. That is why I think those two themes are very important in this book.

Gloria Whelan uses a lot of literary devices in this book. I think it makes the book come alive. One comparison is “it’s like living inside a glass bottle”. She also uses a lot of similarities and connections. For example from the book is “Maa Kamala stirred us up like a pot of rice”. Also another one is “we were shooed like chickens from the courtyard out into the city. Those were examples how Gloria Whelan uses lots of Literary Devices. Sometimes she uses them in a funny way and sometimes she uses them in a serious way but each time they make sense.

I have enjoyed reading homeless bird. I love how there is always a happy ending. My favorite part of the book would be the ending when Koly got married to Raji. This is my favorite part of the book because most of the book shows Koly struggling through hard times and this is a time when she forgets about all these struggles and says yes to the proposal. I think Gloria Whelan is a great author and I would love to read another one of her books.

Gift Of Time

Uncategorized No Comments »

During Values our values coach/teacher asked us to do a project called a gift of time. During our holliday party we were asked to write a holiday card to a hospital. We wrote this letter because we knew theses kids would not spend there hollidays at their house with their family.

On the front of my card I put Happy Hollidays on the front in big letters and different colors. In the front of my letter I wrote some things like Hope you feel better, or Hope you have a great Christmas and Chanukah. I also drew a picture of a Christmas  tree and a menorah. I also put some cool stickers on it. Lastly, I put the same thing I put on the front on the back. I hope a kid enjoyed this letter and remembered to have a great holliday.

Cabo, Mexico

Uncategorized No Comments »

For winter break I went to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico  with my family and another family. We left the eighteenth of December and went for nine days. This was my second time being in Cabo Mexico. Last year I went there with my family and our cousins. We stayed at this resort called Esperanza.

There were so many awesome activities you could do there. Like the game room where they had x box, pool, fooseball, and air hockey . Right next to that they had a little pond with a bunch of cat fish which me and my friends fed about three times. At the Resort they also had  four swimming pools for the kids to swim in and one adult pool. Right around all those awesome and  fun pools there was a field where you throw the football or play tag with your friends and make new friends by asking to join the games that other people were playing. Below that field there was an office, but not only an office, there was a mini shop where you can get popcorn, ice cream, a soda, or a little mini soft basketball you can throw on the field. That place was also for renting movies. Those were all the activities you could do and then there were restaurants you could eat at and relax at.

You could get whatever you felt like getting such as  a smoothie or chicken fingers or whatever. At the resort, there was also a workout room and a spa. The workout room included so many awesome machines that you probably would never know what it does. There were so many weights and treadmills there. The spa was so relaxing that is where the moms spent most of the time just relaxing and getting massaged . We did so many fun ocean activities and beach activities which included deep sea fishing where we caught four tunas and one dorado. We ate them for dinner that night and it was the best food I ever had. I thought I did not like fish, but whoa was I wrong. We also did whale watching and Parasailing which were so cool being above the water and seeing everything and then spending time on a boat with your family looking for cool creatures. There was this beach called the office where we went to have lunch and play in the water.

We also went out to go Cabo Carting which was go carting in Mexico. Last year I got last out of five people and did not even finish eight of the twelve laps while I was going five miles per hour in the middle of the track. This year I got that out of my head and took third place with eleven laps finished out of seven people and won the junior division which is the kid division. I was so happy.

After an incredible Christmas morning, it was time for us to check-out of Esperanza..  Our good friends, the Howard’s invited us to stay with them at their house . So we did, and stayed for one whole day and two nights. That was really fun being there and just relaxing. We left that Tuesday and all I could say was what a fun and exciting trip.

Slice of Life

After I was done putting on my gear. I took my first step on the ice. It was amazing I felt like I was gliding when I took my first step. It felt like I was flying. Even when I was skating backwards and not even moving it still was amazing. I remember the wind in my face and the cold air from the ice, and I also remember how smooth the ice was from the Zamboni. I bet the other people on my team felt the same way. I still feel that gliding and wind in my face when I skate. I just love the fresh air all in my face. I will never forget this moment again.

I was sitting to start my first ice hockey game ever. I remember how nervous I was driving there at 5:30 in the afternoon. There were so many butterflies in my stomach. To get dress we first put on our pads. After that I put my hockey jersey on. In then I put on my skates the hardest thing to get on and tie. It was hard to tie because you would have to start from the bottom and go to the top with. You had to make sure they were tight.  The long wait for the game before us to finish and then the Zamboni had to finish cleaning the ice. It felt like hours just standing there. I remember warming up and to warm up we would be doing skating, passing, and shooting drills. I can’t forget the first shot I took in warm-ups top left corner that sneaked past the goalie.

The game was an exciting game between two competitive teams fighting to the finish. Both goalies played a great game. We ended up winning which made this night even more fun.

After the game was over we were in the locker room getting my gear off when the coach came and said good game to our team. He talked about me in the speech which made me smile. When I came out of the locker room my parents and grandparents were waiting there to greet me. It was a night I will never forget.

Fall Acrostic Poem

Happy kids

Address your home

Like dashing bulls waiting for

Little pieces of candy

October is the month

When kids do dress up and trick or treat.

Energetic for one night and

Excited for their favorite candy.

No one knows what you will dress up as this night.
