The Quest and Capstone Project is a three to four month assignment and is the finale to the Trinity School sixth grade academic experience. Each student picks a topic that intrigues and challenges them. These topics should be personally interesting to the students and will require extensive research. For my Quest and Capstone Project, I have selected “Math in Photography.”
In researching my project, I will look for ways math is involved in photography. I chose this because I think some of the ways photographers capture motion in pictures and the way they set up photographs is amazing. I want to learn about the following terms and how they are related to math: exposure, ISO, color
temperature, focal length, depth of field, field of view, macro, and diffraction. I also, want to explore the different ways photographers use light, and how photographers use blur, or bokeh, to make their pictures more interesting. All of these things relate to math somehow, and that is what I
want to find out!

Julia,
My name is Maggie Hagedorn, and I am a contemporary photography gallery owner in Atlanta. Your technical exploration of photography is compelling. It is refreshing to see a bright mind such as yours investigating the core principles of the medium of photography. Keep up the good work! I will be following your progress!
Very best,
Maggie
