Ode to Ice Cream
January 11th, 2012 by lelpr1213
Ode To Ice Cream
Oh ice cream I love you so
When I take a lick of you my taste buds burst with flavor.
When I walk into an ice cream parlor the aroma of ice cream overwhelms me.
You have so many different delicious flavors to choose.
I feel excited as I pick out what flavor I want.
You taste like fluffy sweet pink clouds.
You are a perfect treat during the hottest days of summer,
And you are just as amazing in the freezing snow days of winter.
You are cold and yummy and you suit every type of person with your many different delicious flavors.
I could eat you all day long and I would be very happy.
You are like a best friend to me and I will always keep you in my freezer at home.
Oh ice cream I love you so.

My Christmas Poem!
December 13th, 2011 by lelpr1213
Kids sleep soundly with visions of sugar plums dancing in there head. They feel warm and cozy all tucked up in there bed. The star on the Christmas tree is shining so bright. Because Santa Claus is coming tonight. The stockings are hanging from young to old. And outside is very, very, cold. When up on the roof I hear a BANG! BANG! BANG! I run to the window and what do I see? A reindeer with a red nose starring at me! And out of the corner of my eye I see a plump man wearing red. And so many thoughts are going through my head. Could this be Santa, could it? I close my eyes and pinch my arm, this has to be a dream. And I think about my favorite thing Ice Cream. But when I open my eyes the reindeers are still standing on the roof. And all the way down stairs I hear a man say “Oof.” I hurry down the stairs and Santa Claus is standing on the floor. Then I ask Santa “Couldn’t you have gone through the door?” I have my ways” Santa replied. And with that he put the presents under the tree and winked his eye. Then he disappeared through the chimney.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!
November 28th, 2011 by lelpr1213
Christmas
Yeah! Christmas is coming soon. I love Christmas not just because of the presents (like Fritz in the Nutcracker thinks) I think of it as I time to be merry and put up lot of decorations. I just got my Christmas tree today Monday the 28 but we wont put it up until 4 or 5 days past. I also really like Christmas music. I know for Christmas I really want a new case for my itouch. What do you want for Christmas? Are you going out of town for Christmas, if so where? Merry Christmas and safe traveling.
Hanukkah
Even though I am Jewish and do not celebrate Hanukkah I still wanted to write this for the people who do celebrate Hanukkah. So happy Hanukkah and I hope you get all the presents you wanted. What do you want to get for Hanukkah? Do you have any special traditions you do for Hanukkah? I hope you have a great Holiday and safe traveling.

Arabian Dancer
November 14th, 2011 by lelpr1213
Yeah, the fifth grade finally got there parts for the Nutcracker. I got my second choice, an arabian dancer! I am an arabian dancer with my friends Melissa, Meg, Sasha, and Chloe. I am having a fun and awesome time with them making up our routine. In our dance we get to do cartwheels, backbends and many more graceful movements. Our costume is almost like a jasmine costume. My costume is blue but there are many other colors like green, pink, and purple. In our arabian dance we have J.D who is the Arabian Sheik and gets to dance with faux swords. I cannot wait till the Nutcracker performance! It is going to be so exciting dancing on the stage! I hope you enjoyed my post. Bye for now.

Walking for the Cure
October 26th, 2011 by lelpr1213
This weekend my mom walked the breast cancer three day walk. She had to walk 60 miles but it was for a good cause, raising money for treating people with breast cancer. I think that this walk is amazing. It is helping people all around the world be able to live! I really want to thank people who have walked this. Also to congratulate all the breast cancer survivors. I hope that when we all grow older there will be no such thing as cancer. I think this because as we get older the medicine is getting much better. There are many different types of cancer. One of these cancers killed Steve Jobs. Also all around the world they have more dangerous cancers because they don’t have as good of medicine technology that the U.S does. Breast cancer is horrible. So are all the different types of cancer. I hope you enjoyed my blog. Thank you and please comment. Bye!

Current Event #2
October 25th, 2011 by lelpr1213
Hello bloggers this is Lele,I hope you enjoy my current event1
My Topic: Gadhafi finally dead.
Who: The people of Libya.
What: People wondering when he is going to be buried.
When: People think he will be buried this Tuesday October 25, 2011
Where: Tripoli, Libya
Why do we care: Because finally one of our last dictators is dead. Also because now the people of Libya are happier.
This is where I got my information,http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/24/world/africa/libya-main/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
Below is an article on Gadhafi.
“Tripoli, Libya (CNN) – As questions linger about his death and those of dozens of others, ousted Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi is likely to be buried Tuesday — five days after he was killed in Sirte, and shortly after his body was displayed at a Misrata meat market — a Libyan official said.
The bodies of Gadhafi, his son Mutassim and his former defense minister, Abu Baker Yunis, had been available for public viewing from a cold storage unit in recent days, except for being removed temporarily so autopsies could be conducted. Gadhafi’s family had issued a statement calling on the United Nations and Amnesty International to push Libya’s new leadership “to hand over the bodies of the martyrs of their tribe so they can be buried according to Islamic rites,” a pro-Gadhafi TV station reported.
Anees al-Sharif, a spokesman for the National Transitional Council’s military arm in Tripoli, told CNN on Monday that Gadhafi was likely to be put to rest Tuesday. The day earlier, Mustafa Abdul Jalil — the chairman of the same council, which is now leading Libya — said a group had been established to deal with how to handle the ex-leader’s body.
No other details were immediately available as to exactly where and who would bury Gadhafi.”

My Current event
October 18th, 2011 by lelpr1213
Hey this is Lele. I hope you enjoy my current events.
Who: many kids in Kabul
What: Children of all ages having to work hard jobs instead of going to school
When: Currently
Where: Kabul, Afghanistan
Why do we care: Because #1 we are in war with this country. And #2 here in America we are lucky enough to be able to be a free country and go to school. Also all the poor kids are having to work all from dusk to dawn in a store or shop.
This story you are about to read is about a boy named who has to work all day long.
While other kids his age are in school, he’s swinging a heavy sledgehammer and doing physically exhausting work that he knows is not meant for a boy.Fayaz
But he doesn’t have much choice. It has been that way since he was 7, when his father got sick.
“Fayaz went to get the doctor, but the doctor didn’t come because they couldn’t afford the doctor’s services. Later that night, his father died,” filmmaker Jawad Wahabzada explained recently on CNN’s “Back Story.” ”After that, Fayaz and his two brothers were forced by economic difficulties to work.”
Fayaz is one of four young Afghans featured in the half-hour documentary “Unnoticed: Children of Kabul,” which Wahabzada co-directed and produced along with iReporter Jon Bougher. Wahabzada said there are 50,000 to 60,000 kids working in Kabul.

My Mesopotamia Project
October 12th, 2011 by lelpr1213
Hey it’s Lele, for my mesopotamia project I am researching Cuneiform. My essential question is “How was the Sumerian alphabet invented”. Sumer, the place that invented cuneiform (now modern day Southern Iraq) is located in Mesopotamia. I chose to study this because cuneiform was a very popular writing system in the olden days. Also because cuneiform writing is really cool looking. It has triangles and squares and lines. I also like to write so I enjoy studying this topic.
I learned so much from studying cuneiform! Here are some things I found out. Cuneiform is one of the oldest ways of writing. How the sumerians wrote was they got wet clay and they did wedge shaped strokes into the clay. Then they let the clay dry in the sun. Cuneiform got its name from the Latin word cuneus. Cuneus means wedge in Latin. So that is why they use wedge shapes for cuneiform. Cuneiform is a very interesting subject because they have many symbols. After a while many other countries started using cuneiform too.
Cuneiform was a great research topic. I learned so much! I think my physical project went very well. What I did was got clay and shaped it into a rectangle then carved cuneiform into it. Something I could have done was put more work into my physical project. I really liked this project it was so much fun!
