Hey Mrs. Burris it's Kate,

I was wondering those same things so a couple of days ago I started reading The Mighty Miss Malone I'm only about 30% through on my kindle, and so far Deza just found her father. It's been really exciting so far and I can't wait to see what happens next! Another good one if you haven't already read it is The Wastsons Go To Birmingham, it's really great and I loved it!

Mrs. Burris, one of the things I like best about picture books is that it inspires the imagination. I love to peruse through picture books with Josh and get his opinion on what is happening. Being the mother of a boy, my favorite picture book of all times is, "Love You Forever", a beautiful story about the never ending love of a mother for her son. In the sad ending, the son gives back to the mother the love she has given to him and then starts the entire routine with his new baby daughter. I cannot read the book with dry eyes. There is a cat in every picture and Josh loves to comment on the different personality that the cat has with every age of the boy as he grows up. For all of you mothers of boys who do not have this book, run, do not walk, to the bookstore and buy it. You will see what I mean!

Polar Express and The Gift of the Magi have a special place in my heart...those are two books I read every year and I am so lucky to have the chance to read them to some of my friends younger children. Storytelling is a magical part of the holiday season...I'll have to try some of your new suggestions this year, Mrs. Burris!

I also loved reading Florida, Kate, Isabel, Allie, and Wyatt's comments, too!

I've looked at clouds from both sides now. From up and down. And still somehow, it's life's illusions I recall. I really don't clouds - at all.

Yes, I recognized the reference without the hint! Loved the video, too. Thanks for the digression. I needed it, too.

One of my favorite things about Christmas is pulling out the box of Christmas books from our storage closet. We used to have a tradition of buying one Christmas picture book for the family each year, as well as for my nieces and nephews. My favorite might be The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey. Now that the children are older we have discontinued buying the picture books, but I still put them out and the children will wander over to the stack and peruse. I especially love the illustrations of wintry landscapes.

hi mrs. Burris!
My family tradition is to watch the grinch but this year I will try the book. We also listen to christmas music and sing songs. I'll try to find the book because my dad sister brother and I always sit and watch it on christmas eve. I love sharing traditions and making new ones. I also just finished a book in a series called cross your heart and hope to spy, then I bought the new one! I have not started it yet but will soon. I have not read or seen any of the books/movies you recommended but will be looking out for them.

Mrs. Burris, I to think that you, just like your father, have a great speaking voice. And most teachers voices will either put you to sleep or scare the heck out of you because they are yelling, but you have a great voice that makes me want to listen to you all day. Especially when you read Bud, Not Buddy to us, man I love your voice! Not to sound creepy or anything.
