MacBook Airs

Next year in 6th grade you get MacBook Airs. I am very exited to use the MacBook Airs. Having my own computer next year will help me stay  organized  and I will have every thing I need. The computers will also help with the problem of no every one being able to use a computer for school. This will affect my learning because I will be able to use spell check and take notes more quickly without paper and a pencil. Also it will enhance my learning because I wont have as many loose papers and I will be able to do all my work on one thing. I want to learn how to use all of the programs correctly and help my mom with her computer. I cant wait to have a MacBook Air.

There should be more homless shelters in Atlanta

I think that Atlanta should have more homeless shelters. People should not be without a home. Some people have bad luck and can’t pay for a home to live in. Also, many people are going to bed hungry all the time. Homeless shelters don’t only have places to sleep, but they also have food. Homeless shelters are very helpful to the community.

Some people argue that there should not be any more homeless shelters in Atlanta. It costs a lot of money for food and beds and people who use homeless shelters don’t pay for it. However, many people care for others and would donate money. Sometimes people will rely on the shelter for everything and will not try to get back on their feet. However, the volunteers could implement programs to help kindly push the residents to get on their feet after a certain amount of time. My opponents arguments are good but I think it would be better for the community if there were more homeless shelters in Atlanta.

Sience in Spring Break

Last week I went on spring break. While I was at the beach I went snorkeling. I saw many different fish snorkeling like angle fish, parrot fish, a barracuda, and many others.I also saw a lot of plants. One of the plants was fire coral and I was fascinated by the way the coral could burn you. Also the way the reef attracted the fish to live there even at the shallow parts of the ocean fascinated me. I was amazed to see fish about a foot long swimming where I could stand. The fish did not seam afraid of people because they are used to people by there home. The way the fish shared the reef reminded me of people in an apartment or hotel. I also wondered how parrot fish scales are so many different colors. That is how science found its way into my vacation.

Liberation of Gabriel King

In the book Liberation of Gabriel King one of the main characters is Frita. In the book Frita is my favorite character because Frita does not care what others think of her and she is brave enough to do what she wants to do. Frita also tries to help her friend Gabe get over his fears. In the book the integration has just happened and people are not happy about it, but Frita does not care. Frita is like me because I don’t care what others think of me like Frita. I think the book Liberation of Gabriel King is a great book.

Ode To Snow

Ode to Snow

When I see you

My heart fills up with bliss,

When you come

It is an opportunity I can’t miss

We are not together much but

To you I’m still attached.

The joy I have with you can not be matched.

You bring excitement here,

When you come

You make every one cheer.

Playing in you Feels like playing in love

With you here

 It feels like heaven above.

You are like a blanket covering me in bed,

I feel so safe with you above my head.

I open my mouth

As you flutter into it so light.

You, snow make everything feel right.

Happy

I love life even though it has little problems, but I am glad I don’t have to live like the Somalians. Many things make me happy like soccer, art, books, candy, soda, fruit, ect… If you look on the bright side of life you will find many, many things too. Check Ms. Johnston’s blog and go to First World problems and think about what it tells you. what makes you happy and why?

Famine in Somalia

In the world many bad things are hapaning including the famine in Somalia. In Somalia 6 places were declared famine areas! It is so sad that innocent people are literally starving to death. I want to help so much because, when I hungry I grab something from the refrigerator and they can’t. We have so much food, they would do any thing for our scrapes from dinner.

Mesopotamian Pottery

My essential question is “Why did the Mesopotamians make pottery?” I picked this topic because I love art and I love being creative. Also, I picked this topic because I could make pottery for my physical project. I have learned why the Mesopotamians made pottery and they did for many different reasons.

I learned much about Mesopotamian pottery, how they made it, what they used to carve it, and what it was used for. The Mesopotamians used bone, teeth, shells, metal, rocks, and sharp sticks to carve things in to the pottery like designs and sometimes stories. The pottery was used for holding liquids but the water was held in unpolished pottery to keep it cold. The Mesopotamians also used the pottery to trade for food, jewelry, and clothes. The pottery was made from clay and mud from the ground. The Mesopotamians used many tools, but the most important was the hand. Their pottery was used for trade, storage, and of course beauty.

I learned so much as I was researching Mesopotamian pottery. Before I started researching, I thought that the pottery was just used for beauty and wealth. I think my research went very well. The only thing that I wish I could change is for me to find more resources. I also learned that to show wealth the Mesopotamians buried their pottery with them once they died. Even though I only had two resources, I got lots of information. I’m glad I picked this topic because I had lots of fun while researching this and making the physical project.
