From learning about myself to learning interesting facts, I have taken a lot away from writing and researching for QUEST. I learned a lot of interesting facts and tidbits about fashion photography while researching, but the most intriguing to me was during the Iraq war, fashion photographers started shooting with fatigue print clothing and it became the new style for the era. I find this so interesting because it proves how much fashion photography affects a cul ture. It can so easily dictate the social and political climate. I learned that as a student I really enjoy researching if I enjoy the topic. I found that I also enjoyed sorting the note cards of all my facts into an essay. I think I liked doing that because it was like tying a bow around the package, or tying all I have learned together into one. I also learned that I work better independently because I can really focus on my work and not get off topic. As a person, I learned about my interests in writing and in fashion photography. I learned that when I find the topic interesting, it is so easy just to write pages and pages of your interests. I enjoy telling others of what I learned through through my writing. I also enjoy learning about the different aspects of fashion photography, not just a model posing in front of a camera. In the future, I wouldn’t change anything about how I wrote my paper. I wouldn’t change anything because I felt how I did was a very neat and organized way to do it. I felt it worked very well. I felt the strategies that I used were a good way to write the paper. I learned a lot of skills and I will defiantly use them in the future. One of the skills I used was color coding my note cards during my research. I felt this was very helpful because I had all of the facts sorted into groups. This made it a lot easier when I was writing to have my paper already split into sections. I while also take away the skill of putting my note cards in order of when I want to say them in the paper. That was really helpful because when I was writing my paper all of the facts were already in order and all I had to do was type them. I while also take away the skill of writing a bibliography. Before QUEST, I only knew how to create a bibliography online, but now I can write it. Useful and interesting, QUEST was a great tool and introduction to middle school.
In class, we are working on our Power 1 sentences for you essay. We are trying to have sentences that hook the reader at the beginning to make them want to read more. We talked about things that make the sentences better and what you shouldn’t do. I felt like this lesson was really important because the right Power 1 sentence can be the key to a good essay. Our teacher gave us three different Power 1 sentences. Two were bad and we said what was wrong with them. The last one was what you would want a Power 1 to be. I am excited to put all I have learned into my essay and share it with everyone.

She almost looks distracted. It leaves you with a mystery. Her hair is very old and sophisticated and gives a TEEN Vogue shoot a very mature look. Finally, the pink flowers give it the perfect finishing touch. It sets a perfect backdrop for Taylor Swift. It is beautiful yet simple so it didn’t take away from Taylor Swifts beauty. It is not to bright and screaming attention so the first thing your eyes look at is still Taylor with her sophisticated beauty. It is the perfect combination of youth and sophistication.

For our Quest/ Capstone we had to find 4 sources to use in our research, one book and three Internet. The Internet sources were a lot easier to find than the book source. I found that a lot of people had the same interests as me. I found information that I knew already and some I didn’t know that intrigued me to learn more. There were sources on different photographers, I found that Nick Knight was the most interesting. I also found sources on the different ways technology advances the photo. For example, it can give the photo different colors that a traditional photo machine can’t. It also quickens the development process, and much more. I found another source just explaining what fashion photography is. That website is really helpful because it really gets you to understand fashion photography. The book source was a little more challenging. There was nothing on my topic at our school library. I had to go on Amazon to find my book. Even though, it was harder to find my book, the book I have is great. It is called Fashion Photography: A Complete Guide to the Tools and Techniques of the Trade By: Bruce Smith. The book is what the title says, a complete guide to fashion photography. It talks about everything from marketing you photo to doing the make-up. I look forward to digging deeper into these sources which have left me wanting to learn more.
Throughout this whole projected I lot of things have surprised me. At the beginning, I chose this topic because I thought it would be a fun Capstone and would be cool to make a photo shoot, not anymore. Every time I find a new source that fits my Quest I get excited, one more way for me to learn about fashion photography. I have always thought fashion photography was just taking pictures but it is so much more. You expresses yourself through those pictures. Each picture is like a little bit of you spread throughout. I have been surprised to see all of the different aspects that goes into the picture, it is not just a pretty girl click take a picture. I am so excited to learn everything that goes into fashion photography to make it fashion photography.

These questions will guide me in my future research. I look forward to learning about everyone.
This week I was researching Nick Knight’s photography. I found a great website on him and his style of photography. I found that a photographers personality reflects in their photo. Nick Knight pushes the limits technically and creatively . He takes photos on controversial topics like obesity and racism. He likes creating unique types of photos. He shot a Lady Gaga photo shoot. He took the album cover picture for Born This Way. He enjoyes shooting her because she pushes boundrys with fashion. I look forward to finding out more about Nick Knight’s sytle in his photos.
