For me I think the most meaningful quote is when Maa Kamala says,” Here you are not a widow but a young woman with a life ahead of you”. I think this was inportant to Koly because she was sad that she became a widow when her husband died and Maa Kamala is saying that she is not a widow gust a yong woman starting a new life and that was nice of her to do that.

I also think that the most important and meaningful quote is the one by Maa Kamala when she said “you wallow like pigs in the mud.That is all in the past” I think this because she is saying that it only makes it worse talking about their old lives before they were widows.She is also saying get over it you are a widow and you cant do anything about it. That is what makes me think that this is the most important and meaningful quote.

I think that the most meaningful quote is when Maa Kamala said “you wallow like pigs in the mud. That is all in the past” because that means never look back in the past but always look forward to your future. This is meaningful because she is frowning upon her situation but she has not looked for ways to make her life better but now that she has a place to sleep and another to work but If Koly doesn’t have any ideas to make life better, she has to start looking for one.

In this chapter I think an impotant quote would be when Raji said to Koly ” Don’t blubber. I’ll show you a place to go. You have to wait until I have finished work. Sit over there, and I’ll be back for you.” I think it should have made her feel cared for especially because she has been through alot of unloving times. So him saying I’ll be back for you should had made her heart fill with joy. I think that it also probably made her think in her head ” Everything is going to turn around and start being a little happier.

I also think that when the two girls were talking about their miserable times, and then Maa Kamala came in and said to them ” Enough of your miserable tales, you wallow like pigs in mud” I feel that should have told them to STOP looking back on the past, and it’s telling them this now not then. Or if you interpret that a different way it could being saying that their not only one with sad stories and that everyone and there has sad story maybe even worse stories than her. So it could be saying to ” suck it up and move on”

In this chapter I think that the quote “you wallow like pigs in mud. That is all in the past.” I think that was meaningful because despite all the commotion that is going on Koly finds these words from Maa Kamala. I think this means that she is kind of predicting Koly’s future by saying put the past behind and move forward. You are a person with a future ahead. You will get a job and start to make so money. She is trying to put some hope into the women. Maa Kamala I think is a person that is very kind and is going out of her way to do something like this, to try to get women jobs and things like that. When pigs wallow they roll and swim in mud. That relates to the past because the swimming is like dwelling ad the pig is like the past. So it means that you are dwelling on the past and you should move along.

I think that during this whole book many people have said many meaningful things to Koly, but I think that in chapter eight there’s one important quote that is said to Koly. Maa Kamala says to Koly, “You wallow like pigs in the mud. That is all in the past. Now, Koly, we must find you a job.” I find this important because this is the fist that someone has told Koly to move on in life and to not focus on the past, but to focus on the present and future. I think that Maa Kamala helped Koly relies that she’d be happier if she forgot about all the bad things in life and concentrated on the things that go well in her life.

I think that the most meaningful quote is when the boy said to Koly, ” It is a wast for such a pretty girl to dress in a widow’s sari.” I think that that is meaningful because he is basically saying that Koly is actually worth something. I think that it is meaningful and helpful to Koly because she probably now thinks better of her self now that he said that it is just a wast to put her in the sari. Also now that she probably thinks a little better of her self she maybe could be more confident in her self so she can take more risks and chances. Or she could do more things that she never thought that she could do.
Also I think that when Maa Kamala says ” You wallow like pigs in the mud. That is all in the past.” I think that that is important because it tells you to forget about bad things that happened in the past and make a fresh plate. Also it reminds Koly or me to not let bad things hold you back. Like, when Sass left and she talked to the boy she didn’t give up and she kept on going with the boy. Now she is in a widow’s home with food and a small like shelter. If Koly gave up she probably would be walking around the temple searching or giving up to try to find Sass.

I think the most thought provoking quote for Koly was when the boy said” Don’t blubber. I’ll show you a place to go. You have to wait until I have finished work. Sit over there , and I will come back for you.” I think that ment alot to Koly because it tells her that some one cares about her and wants to help her. Also it probly gave her hope and the thought of starting over her life.I bet it filled the lonlyness in her life and made her feel happy and wanted. Also she had already known him from when she first arrived and she probly felt safe when she saw some one that was familiar to her.

In this chapter there is a variety of quotes and meaningful sayings that influence Koly. One of the most meaningful one is when Maa Kamla says “Here you are not a widow but a young women with a life ahead of you.” I think what Maa Kamla said influenced her because she was a discouraged widow with no place to go and what Maa Kamla said really changed Koly’s live because she can look at things with a different perspective. This saying was very touching and also change the way I look at the world because people who don’t have a home or don’t have any money doesn’t mean that they have feelings to and we should respect that ,we shouldn’t judge then on the way they look like you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. This saying can change other peoples way they look at other people.
