I can really relate to what you wrote- it is HARD being a beginner- at anything- so often we forget that. I thnk as adults deep down we know it - that is hard, challening, even scary to start something new, try something different, or to just plain get out of our comfort zone. I wonder how often we really try to do that- especially as educators to remain grounded in the visceral and emotional feelings we all have at the beginning of something and the very different emotions when we reap the great reward from sticking with the process to achieve a desired result.

I have not noticed the poster- I will look for it and remember. :) Alicia

Hey there, Trinity School 6th grade! My class of 5th graders took up blogging last year, and we used the great writing of your students to inspire us. We loved how they actually WROTE, not just gave a report of the day's events. I used their posts as examples for my students, but it seems that you've deleted last year's class. Do you all archive former blogs or delete them? I wish I had printed some off last year so that my current class could read them. Oh well, hopefully your class this year will be as talented!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Ewing

Comment on Trinity Tablets: Nervousness, Enthusiasm, Confidence by Mariam

I remember when I first got my tablet. I felt the same anxiety that I'm sure these new sixth graders feel. But as one of the students demonstrated, we get less nervous and more excited overtime. It's how we learn. Before we get into a pool, we dip our toes in the water to test the temperature. It is always cold, so we gradually ease into the water, at our own pace. Over time, our body temperature adapts, and we feel more comfortable with our surroundings. It's the same with learning. The same with going into a new grade. The same with becoming the leaders of a school. The same with going to a new school.

Growth. We could learn a lot from our Sixth Graders. Forge ahead when we are anxious. Gain enthusiasm because of our efforts and willingness to risk. Develop confidence to fuel future new steps.

Changing and shifting - it requires thought, flexibility, and wisdom. You are up for the challenge with all the right stuff to make it happen! Can't wait to see where you lead the students in 2246. How I love that number!
