Stephen,
Thank you for this insightful and inspiring message. We need more educators and parents like you who seek to not only understand and acknowledge the God-given gifts their children have received but also to encourage those same children to use and share those gifts with the world around them. Thank you for reminding all of us to encourage, affirm, and value the creativity and uniqueness in all of our students and in our own children as well. You have so eloquently stated what we all need to continue to hear.

Thanks for your wisdom.

I have shared this with my school community as well.

Move from the conventional to the collaborative and creative? Right on.

Stephen,
Knowing young adult A, young adult B, and young adult C has been an immense privilege. Your words honor them in a lasting way and simultaneously cause each of us with children to reflect on their future in light of our work in the world. Thank you for being personal. And, your children who have made their unique paths will continue to honor your work as a father.

Stephen - your message calls us in so many ways - as educators, as parents, as observers of talents, as creators of opportunities, as path clearers for the next generation. I'm ready to get to work... starting right with me. Thank you for sharing. MM

Thank you for writing this. Of course, I hope you share it with your children. While it may be embarrassing to recognize themselves and know that others will have recognized them as well, the respect you show them will make these words a thing treasured.
I'd like my children to help your children change the world. Your words will help me remember to do my part.
You've reached a lot of individuals who touch the lives of many children. I hope your words will help us all to stretch beyond conventions that don't fit our students' needs. I hope we can create and embrace opportunities rather than allowing them to be lost.

It is quite evident that you have honored and nurtured your children's unique gifts and passions. How beautiful, too, that you are wise enough to embrace the lessons that your children share through their personal convictions. Thank you for taking my thoughts, as a mother and a teacher, to those values in life that are unfailingly real, true, and meaningful!

You certainly know your own children and are aware that the world is full of many more like them. As a first grade teacher in a classroom with another teacher, we are constantly striving to provide ways for each student to pursue their interests. We encourage them to "be flexible" and "to persevere." We hope that these skills and strategies will enable them to be curious and creative throughout their lives. Thank you so much for helping another educator keep our focus on each child.
